Support us
We're skilling up the next generation of Burner Builders - and it's exciting!

We raise money in various ways, through camp fees, Nest art grants and a range of fundraising activates (see the Events page).

If you'd like to support us through donation of money, skills, resources or time, please keep reading!

Donate money
If you would like to donate to the camp, we would be very grateful. We accept any amount great or small and every little really does help.

Our aim is to make DIY and construction skills accessible to all with particular focus on creating space and improving the confidence for anyone who struggles to feel included whether it's due to gender, heritage, skill level, disability, chronic illness, mental health, orientation, identity or any other reason.

We do this through creating a network of people who care for and look out for each other loosely called a collective, or in Burner-speak a 'camp' where everyone volunteers their time to support the camp according to their abilities and/or interests and gains the opportunity to collectively plan, learn and build group projects. We try to run with as little hierarchy as possible, so every voice has the opportunity to steer the ship (it can be chaotic, but it does kinda work!)

All funds go toward making all this possible. Money might be spent on materials, tuition, workshops; or things which make the camp run such as transport, storage, camp infrastructure and workshops as well as towards the costs of running fundraisers. We run an open accounting system, so if you'd like to see the 'books' feel free to ask!
Any size of donation makes a difference and is greatly appreciated.

Donate resources
Do you have stuff?

We like stuff.

We can use a range of building materials (we're interested in the environment so any opportunity to re-use material is great) as well as tools which aren't in too bad nick (and if you're happy to lend them, we are happy to pay a deposit for their safe return).

However we can also use a range of other things....

We have a full calendar of fundraisers coming up of all sorts. We sell food and drinks to raise funds so if you have a bottle of something someone brought round once that you're just not going to open - why not donate it to the camp?

We are also exploring holding raffles and competitions and need prizes! Whatever you have kicking around the house that needs a new home, we might be up for taking it off your hands. We also like running Really Bad Raffles, so if you have something funny and shit - we'll take it!

Hiring venues is expensive. If you have a space you can let us use which accommodates 30+ people - that would amazing! We have professional event organisers in our camp as well as professional equipment and we are happy to take on responsibility for the smooth running of whatever type of event you'd be happy to host.

Donate time and skills
There are two ways you can make our visions a reality.

Offer Any Skill

We are looking into creating a Pledge Page where people can list any skill they are willing to share with a charge and the percentage of this that will be donated to the camp. This can be anything you think will appeal from how to make samosas, brew your own malt, to how to plan a party, look after chickens or meditate.
As we are not asking for 100% donation and have access to a wider community, you can also offer professional skills if you are looking to pick up new clients.

Offer build skills

Are you a designer, tradesperson, consultant or long time festival builder?
Virtually, or IRL, do you have time to give an informal talk, host a discussion or workshop? Can you run a practical workshop to build skills, confidence and vision of our members? Can you be on the other end of the phone to share your expertise every so often when we need guidance?

Most camp members have the itch to create things but haven't had the opportunity or access to explore the possibilities. By sharing your knowledge on how one gets from A to B, we will be able to dream the whole alphabet - it only takes a little nudge in the right direction.

And if you want to get more involved... why not join the camp and lead the construction of your own projects while teaching others how it all works?

We have funds to support your expenses (and in some cases payment), as well as access to workshops, materials and tools - we're just looking for the people with the know-how to pass it forward.
